You always hear: "Hands are difficult!" and this is why they are the theme of our next workshop :)
Format: from traditional portrait with hands, to a triptych of of hand studies or even a mural.
Sources are completely open: from your favorite model to old master copy, to a stunning photograph, as long as you explore this fascinating subject!
"The hand is where the mind meets the world. We humans use our hands to build fires and sew quilts, to steer airplanes... The human brain, with its open-ended creativity, may be the thing that makes our species unique. But without hands, all the grand ideas we concoct would come to nothing but a very long to-do list"...
-- Carl Zimmer
"The human hand is so beautifully formed, its actions are so powerful, so free and yet so delicate that there is no thought of its complexity as an instrument; we use it as we draw our breath, unconsciously." ...
"The Hand: How Its Use Shapes the Brain, Language, and Human Culture"
by Frank R. Wilson
We would lead you through the whole process from conceptualization, research and composition, taking photographs, if needed, to drawing and painting a portrait step-by-step.
As usual, we will meet for a double session once a week, so you have time to do additional work between the sessions. The paintings will be on display at the gallery for the following month. We look forward to working with you on this new project!
